Rep. Albert issues statement on riot at nation’s Capitol
RELEASE|January 7, 2021

Rep. Thomas Albert of Lowell, chair of the Michigan House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement after yesterday’s violence at the U.S. Capitol and after a threat earlier today temporarily closed the Michigan State Capitol:

“Violence in any form is unacceptable. What we saw in Washington, D.C. yesterday was not a protest – it was anarchy. I am thankful for the law enforcement personnel who restored order, and I believe rioters who broke laws yesterday should be prosecuted to the full extent

“This is America – but what we saw yesterday in our nation’s Capitol was un-American. We must put an end to this violence and division. We must unite and overcome this adversity to be even stronger as a nation than before.”
